Body length: 12 - 20 mm
Life cycle: 2 - 3 years
Adults in: June - September
Host plant: polyphagous in deciduous trees (Fagus, Carpinus, Alnus, Populus etc.)
Distribution: Europe except North, North Africa, Turkey, Caucasus, Transcaucasia, North Iran


The mounted beetles were reared from larvae found in a dead rotten standing trunk of white poplar (Populus alba). The larvae were collected in Břeclav - Pohansko (South Moravia, Czech Republic).

 

The female ovipositing into a beech trunk (Fagus sylvatica) was photographed near Zbečno village (Central Bohemia, Czech Republic) and the other females were observed in Vihorlat Mts. (Slovak Republic).
