Ropalopus hanae Sama & Rejzek, 2002
Distribution:
ASIA - TR
The holotype of the newly described species (Sama et Rejzek, 2002) was captured whilst sitting on a branch of a living shrubby Quercus species. However, as the other congeners of the species group ungaricus develop in various living Acer spp., we think it more likely that Acer might be the true host. A species of Acer does occur (although quite rarely) in the type locality. Only recently, our colleague Nicole Auvray, has collected 15 specimens of this remarkable beetle in an Acer-Quercus growth in Kastamonu (N Turkey).
Body length: 24 m
Life cycle: 2 - 3 years [?]
Specimen captured: June 22.-23., 1999
Host plant: unknown, but very likely an Acer sp.
Distribution: Turkey
The depicted beetle was collected in Buglan Gecidi pass (1640 m, 40 km NW Mus, East Turkey).
