Pyrrhidium sanguineum is distributed from Europe and North Africa to the Transcaucasia and North Iran. In Central Europe it is one of the most common longhorn beetles. It is polyphagous on deciduous trees but it strongly prefers oak (Quercus spp.). Larvae feed under bark of dead branches and trunks.

Adults in: April - June
