A very rare species in Central Europe developing in Norway spruce (Picea abies), European silver fir (Abies alba) and probably also in common larch (Larix decidua). The larvae feed subcortically in recently dead branches of living trees. The pupal cell is built in the sapwood. Development lasts two years. Adults never visit flowers.
