Paraclytus reitteri Ganglbauer, 1882

Distribution:
ASIA - AB IN

The larval nutrition and female oviposition preferences of Paraclytus reitteri are very similar to those of Paraclytus raddei (Ganglbauer, 1881) and larvae of both species are frequently collected together. Paraclytus reitteri, however, seems to prefere dead but very compact and moisture-poor wood of trunks and stumps of Fagus orientalis (and very likely also other deciduous trees). The larval substrate always showed a characteristic fungal infestation.

Body length: 11 - 15 mm
Life cycle: 2 - 3 years
Adults in: July - June
Host plant: polyphagous in deciduous trees
Distribution: Azerbaidjan, North Iran
